Whitsunday Islands by boat12 sept. 2014
Snorkeling, beach and fun were on the menu today.
We spent the day at sea on a fast boat to explore the Whitsunday Islands and its underwater world!
We snorkeled at Butterfly Bay and Mantaray Bay. The visibility in the water wasn’t so good but we saw beautiful corals (yellow, blue, green, pink…) and a few fish, some pretty big.
After snorkeling for 1h30, we went to Hill Inlet Lookout on Whitsunday Island. After a short walk, the stunning view was breathtaking: Whitehaven Beach with its silica sand and its turquoise water is really the most beautiful beach in Australia (and beyond). After taking heaps of photos, we went down to have lunch and enjoy the beach. The white sand was so fine, it looked and felt like icing sugar and walking in the wet sand felt exactly like walking in melted snow (but warmer :-)) It was very good for a body scrub as well :-) The water was warm enough to have a good swim and perfectly clear. We thoroughly enjoyed to be there and we could have spent the whole day there (we stayed barely 2 hours). We even saw a small shark in the shallow water (and a ray).
After this great day out, we had dinner in town.
