To Vang Vieng06 mars 2015
This morning, we took a mini van at 8:30 am to Vang Vieng. We had to go back on the same crazy winding road! The second part of the trip was less winding and the sceneries were stunning. We had a break for lunch around 1:00 pm and arrived in Vang Vieng at 2:00 pm. So, we drove the 230 km in 5 hours or so.
Once at the Vang Vieng bus station, we had to find a tuk tuk to go to the city centre: not an easy thing to do! There are several tuk tuk drivers but they want you to pay twice the price. We were a group of 5 people and we didn't want to pay. So after 10-15 min of unsucessful negotiation, we decided to walk and find a tuk tuk on the way. Upset, the tuk tuk driver finally agreed. We are amazed how lazy and stubborn they can get here in Laos. They rather not doing anything than earning less money.
Once we got to the guesthouse, we rested for a while as it was so hot outside. Then, we went for a walk to see the town. Well, Vang Vieng is more like a village but it is a very touristy place where people love to get drunk and chill out by the river. The surroundings are gorgeous with beautiful mountains. So, like everybody, we chilled out by the river watching all the boats and kayaks (it is as busy as a highway). Then, we stopped for dinner in a restaurant where you can watch the series Friends and headed back to the guesthouse.
