This morning, we had delicious smoothies and some pastries from the bakery for breakfast. Then, we met up with Steve, Lorena and Sonny in a café. It was great seeing them again :-)
Next, we left them to visit the War Museum. It was interesting (they have another Guillotine here, and we saw small bats) but also shocking, first because of the photos displayed and second, because of the attitude of some Vietnamese students taking photos of them with a big smile in front of guns used to kill their own people only 40 years ago! For us, it was a good way to remember our History lessons, but you only know one side of the story (communism propaganda!).
We walked in the streets, saw the beautiful Saigon Opera House (another example of French Colonial architecture) and went back to our hotel to take our luggages. Then, we caught a taxi to go to a couchsurfer's place, in the western part of the city centre. It was rush hour and it was crazy to see so many motorbikes surrounding the taxi, so it couldn't move.
So we met Hung and his friend Ngoc and went out for dinner. We had Bun Bo Hué (spicy beef noodle soup) and Banh Cuon which were good. Then, we had a Vietnamese sweet soup with jelly. It was good with coconut milk, but one was with durian and it tasted like strong camembert. Yak :-(
