Discovering Siem Reap

We like Siem Reap, it is a clean and nice city with lovely restaurants and cafés, markets and a nice river.
Today was a relaxing day. We took our time in the morning, enjoying our cool room and then, we wandered in the streets. We went to visit Artisans d'Angkor workshops in Siem Reap. Artisans Angkor was created in 1999 to help young people find work in their home villages, allowing them to practice their crafts while providing them with a vocation. It was created as part of a three-year project to integrate young artisans trained by the Chantiers-Ecoles de Formation Professionnelle - whose objective is to revive traditional craft skills: stone carving, wood carving, lacquering, gilding and silk processing. It was interesting to see some students working (despite the very incompetent and rude guide who expected a tip at the end and insulted us in khmer because we didn't give him any :-( ). Then, we walked through the alleys of the Art Center Market, the Old Market and along the river.
We had lunch near our hotel and had the surprise to meet Lena, a the swiss girl we met a month and a half ago while couchsurfing in Ventiane! The world is so small. So we shared our lunch chatting and catching up and decided to meet tonight with her friends for dinner.
We had a refreshing swim in the pool and around 8:00 pm, we met Lena, Désirée et Anne-Lise for dinner. We had a great night, eating at the lovely night market and walking around.

Infos fromages :
We have found some French cheese in Cambodia: Comté, Emmental, Reblochon, Camembert... But it is way too expensive, and it is sooo hot that we don't want any.
